The police officer who put his knee in Tyreek Hill‘s back and aggressive handcuffs placed on the NFL star during a traffic stop last weekend has been accused of using excessive force in the past, TMZ Sports learned.
According to records we obtained from the Miami-Dade Police Department, the officer Danny Torres has received numerous complaints since joining the MDPD in October 1996.

Records show that on six separate occasions, he was accused of misconduct, including force violations as well as improper procedures. Torres has also been investigated for his use of force at least 13 times.
Records show he was also highly disciplined throughout his decades-long career… receiving written reprimands as well as multiple suspensions — including a 20-day ban in 2018.
It’s worth noting, however, that Torres has also received more than two dozen accolades during his tenure — including an award for professionalism in May 2023.
Torres is currently on administrative duty … as MDPD officials have launched an investigation into his behavior during the traffic stop involving Hill outside Hard Rock Stadium last Sunday.

Hill stated that Torres was very rude to him during the incident …and believed the actions should have led to his termination. Torres’ reps, meanwhile, argued that his conduct was justified due to Hill’s lack of cooperation at the scene — and called for his reinstatement.
Hill received two citations during the game — one for careless driving and one for a seat belt violation. He has since played in both of the Dolphins’ games, recording 154 receiving yards on 10 receptions.
