“The statute does not provide for coups”
Mr. Pappas commented that he is hearing “talks about a coup” and that he is reading “abominations about the junta,” to emphasize that “the statute does not provide for coups. It provides for the leadership to be auditable and revocable.” “This talk about our internal functioning cannot be heard. The word “junta” and the word “coup” are too heavy. Here are comrades and comrades who suffered during the junta. Except for those who believe that a coup was carried out, they will bring the proposal to withdraw the revocation of the statute,” he said.
Mr. Pappas noted that “the members of the Statute Committee, experienced comrades, have done a great job. And they have come up with a concise proposal. Despite the different choice they made for the person of the next president, they have agreed to the necessary changes.”
“The party will continue to have Municipal Committees, it will organize its regional organizations, it will have an elected organizational body. Are we going to throw this work away? No, we have to discuss this with the base”, he stressed, adding that “this work is the continuation of the effort to transform the party, which began late in 2022, when we decided to elect the president and the Central Committee of the people”.
In the same context, Mr. Pappas emphasized: “and we have to think about whether the new leadership can be given a blank check for the statute it will propose next. Whether it will be able to interpret the order as requiring it to present its own proposals on the statute. When it will not have committed itself to the statute”. He stressed that “left-wing leaders are elected not to be irresponsible, but to implement collective decisions”.
