Moscow today rejected the “victory plan” it drew up Volodymyr Zelenskycalling it a ploy to prevent the collapse of the “anti-Russian coalition”, while claiming it has nothing to do with finding a diplomatic or political solution to the war.
Zelensky indicated on Wednesday that his plan, the details of which he did not disclose, was ready after extensive consultations.
The American president will even introduce him Joe Bidenduring his visit to Washington next week, but also to address a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian President stressed that his initiative is aimed at creating acceptable conditions for Ukraine.
On Russia’s side, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said today that Zelensky’s plan looks like just a trick.
“The only goal is (…) to prevent the collapse of the anti-Russian coalition and, of course, it has nothing to do with finding a political and diplomatic solution to the situation around Ukraine,” Zakharova stressed.
She reiterated Moscow’s view that the West should stop financing and arming Kiev and added that no initiative aimed at finding a peaceful solution makes sense without Russia’s participation.
