A fire broke out yesterday afternoon at the Karpathos Landfill, in the Menetes area, far from the villages.
Strong winds are blowing in the area, but although there does not appear to be an immediate danger of extension, outside the area, as a precaution, “112” has been sent to residents in the area to prepare.

54 firefighters are participating in the extinguishing operation (30 forest commanders from the 1st EMODE arrived in an ATR aircraft) with 6 vehicles, 4 groups of walkers, while water trucks and OTA machines assist in the extinguishing.
