Two companies, one Taiwanese and one Hungarian, were at the center of the attack against it Hezbollah in Lebanon, where around 3,000 bombs exploded simultaneously.
Taiwanese police raided the offices of Gold Apollo in Taipei on Tuesday morning as the controversial Hebolah fighter-bombers carried their own branding.
According to the BBC, as of at least 12:00 (Greek time), police officers remained in the offices, questioning staff and examining documents.
The company’s founder, Hsu Ching Kuang, visibly shocked, told reporters that Gold Apollo had no involvement. He does not dispute that the doorbells bear his company’s logo, but notes that there was never a direct order. He believes the order was placed with BAC of Hungary, based in Budapest, which obtained a license to use the Gold Apollo logo on the doorbells it makes.
The Hungarian company’s offices in Budapest are closed today.
Achilles heel injury
Although Israel has not claimed responsibility (nor is it thought to have done so), it is believed to have been organized by the Mossad—perhaps months in advance. One or more of its agents planted explosive material on the bombers before they reached Lebanon. This is an attack that hit Hezbollah in the Achilles heel.
