Arms exports to Israel decided to “freeze” the German government, to resolve the legal problems that have arisen, reports the Reuters agency, citing a source from the Federal Ministry of Economy, which is also responsible for approving the export of weapons systems.
Last year the Germany authorized the export of weapons and military equipment worth 326.5 billion euroswhich is 10 times the value of corresponding exports in 2022.
Export restrictions
Exports, however, have been limited this year, with their value reaching 14.5 million from January to August 21, while this year’s deliveries include “weapons of war” worth just 32,449 euros.
The same Economy Ministry source said that the approval of licenses to export equipment to Israel was halted to clarify whether they violate German legislation, which is particularly restrictive when it comes to the use of German-made weapons.
