The Kremlin has commented on the alleged assassination attempt against him Donald Trump and emphasized that “playing with fire” has consequences.
Of course, the Kremlin’s comment is directly related to support of the 58-year-old attacker in Ukraine.
“Of course, we are following the information coming from the US, we see how tense the situation there is (…) the political battle is intensifying and various methods are being used,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted at a regular press conference.
“It is not us who have to think, the American intelligence agencies have to think. In any case, playing with fire has consequences,” he stressed.
CNN, Fox News and the New York Times — citing unidentified law enforcement officials — have reported that the attacker on Trump was Ryan Wesley Ruth, 58, of Hawaii. Three social media accounts under Ruth’s name show that he has strongly supported Ukraine in its war with Russia.
The New York Times noted that it interviewed Ruth in 2023 for an article about Americans offering to help Kiev.
Ruth had indicated in this interview that she went to Ukraine in 2022 and spent several months there, in addition to trying to recruit Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban to fight in Ukraine.
