The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, says Donald TrumpIt’s not appropriate for Haitian immigrants to consume dogs and cats from people there… but he says the influx of migrants is causing real problems.
Mayor Rob Rue tells TMZ … the arrival of 20,000 Haitian immigrants in recent years in a city of 58,000 is straining infrastructure and causing a culture clash … specifically, an increase in bad drivers and fatal car accidents.

The city’s mayor says residents’ pets are safe, but Springfield is facing a improve in reckless driving incidents …which Rue attributes to the extra number of Haitian immigrants behind the wheel.
Mayor Rue says migrants are not used to driving vehicles and are not accustomed to the rules of the road in the US… and he says this is causing car accidents, injuries and often deaths.

As we instructed you, the the police are getting so many calls they can’t do their job.
Mayor Rue says scaremongering and misinformation are causing inefficiencies in Springfield law enforcement… and that’s why they “need help, not hate.”
Some residents continue to promote the Trump conspiracy at city council meetings — videos are going viral — but Mayor Rue says it’s a mix of reality, conspiracy and lies.
There’s a fascinating tug of war going on here… Mayor Rue says, “When we try to report reality — whether on social media or at conferences — that’s called lying, but when someone else says it or posts it, that’s called reality.”

The mayor says car accidents caused by migrants are “very serious” and isn’t downplaying the real effects immigration is having on the city… however, he says Springfield doesn’t deserve a destructive national spotlight because of an unfounded conspiracy theory about eating pets amplified by a presidential candidate.
Alternatively, Mayor Rue says Springfield wants “people to speak the truth about our city, our neighborhood.”

Trump now says Haitian immigrants are taking geese from Springfield’s parks and ponds to take home for dinner… however, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources told TMZ they found no evidence of wildlife being illegally removed from the parks, despite two separate calls reporting people of Haitian descent kidnapping waterfowl.
