Gale Weathers may be returning to Shout out. Sources tell ET that Courtney Cox is in talks to reprise his iconic role in the seventh film in the franchise from Kevin Williamson and Spy Glass Media Group.
The news, which Variety was the first to report, comes weeks later Neve Campbell revealed she is coming back to Shout out for the next film. Campbell, who plays Sidney Prescott in the franchise, didn’t show up in Scream VI due to a salary dispute.
“It was always a blast and an honor to play Sidney in the Scream films. My appreciation for these films and what they meant to me has never waned,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’m so happy and proud to say that I was asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!”
In his post, Campbell additionally revealed that Williamson, the franchise’s creator and writer, would direct the film following Christopher Landon’s departure.
“This was his baby and it was his brilliant mind that dreamed this world,” she wrote. “Kevin is not only an inspiration as an artist, but he has been a dear friend for many years. To the amazing Scream fans, I hope you are as excited as I am.”
