Yellow stone fans don’t need to hang up their cowboy hats just yet. Although the beloved Paramount+ series is coming to an end with the second part of season 5 airing later this year, there is still plenty for viewers to look forward to.
ET’s Denny Directo spoke with the actor Josh Lucaswho plays a younger version of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton in the series, what fans can expect about.
“I texted (creator) Taylor Sheridan a few months ago and his response was, ‘Absolutely, we’ll finish this in about 10 episodes,’” Lucas said at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series, Palma Real. “I know as much as you do, but I think we have 10 episodes to go and I can’t wait to get started.”
As for the possibility of a spin-off with Lucas playing the Montana rancher, he added: “Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously from 1800 onwards. So yeah, I’d be there in a second.
Lucas was also asked about the conclusion of the Yellow stone by a caller during a Wednesday episode of See what happens live with Andy Cohen.
“Taylor is a closed book. If there is a closed book, he is that man,” Lucas said of Sheridan. “He’s a one-man band. He does everything himself, a very, very unusual guy. Most shows have 10 songwriters or more and Taylor is doing everything himself. He keeps it very close to his chest, so none of us know. I don’t think a single person. I don’t think Kevin Costner, nobody knows, which is fantastic because we’re going to show up, he’s going to hand us a script and we’ll go from there.
Yellow stone Season 5, Part 2 is expected to be released in November.
As for your new show, Palma RealLucas loved working with Carol Burnett, Allison Janney, Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin and Laura Dern.
“Everything about this show is constantly kind of pinch-me work,” he told ET. “Every day the cast became more extraordinary and it was really unusual because not only was there no diva behavior, but everyone seemed to become professional. It means it was a really rare and really fun environment.”
Palma Real premiered on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, March 20.
