Meetings are being held inside and outside Parliament by ministers and deputies from the ruling party, and an operation is underway to strengthen relations.
At these meetings, the objective is to analyze the main aspects of the regulations that will be voted on and clarify any doubts that may exist. In this way, attempts are made to limit… complaints and mobilize parliamentarians for its better promotion government project.
It is no secret that after the European elections there were “complaints” from some of its members New Republic to a range of issues and this was also reflected in the Parliamentary Group meeting in June. Then there were complaints from deputies that they found doors closed, while several of the speakers had spoken about the need to return to their roots.
The most recent “message” was the question presented by eleven deputies (including the now retired Marios Salmas) to the National Minister of Economy and Finance about defaulted loans. In fact, it seems that there are discussions among deputies about other similar measures, although at this juncture the objective is to lower the tone within the party in power.
According to information, the prime minister has a “scheduled meeting” with deputies, and on Friday there will also be the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the New Republic. The event – in a highly symbolic movement – will take place in Rigillis, where the party headquarters were located for years, and the speaker will be Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
At the same time, meetings are underway between ministers and deputies to provide better information. A few days ago, the leadership of the Ministry of Labor met with party deputies and there was a broad discussion on labor and insurance issues. Similar meetings are reportedly underway in the coming period with an emphasis on the government’s social agenda.
However, ministers and deputies also make appointments outside Parliament, for a more relaxed discussion. Announcement. Georgiadis had the opportunity to discuss them at a table with ND deputies. by the Social Affairs Committee. At the same time, Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis met with ruling party members of the Educational Affairs Committee in a tavern in Pagratio. Naturally, a political “menu” dominates these tables, as the discussion is centered on the theme of each ministry, but at the same time extends to a series of current issues.
Meanwhile, visits by mixed levels of ministers, parliamentarians and party leaders will be intensified in the next period to promote the government’s work (starting with Northern Greece). Máximos’ message is that there is no relaxation and the objective is to approve a series of bills by the end of the year.
What came before
In June, as already mentioned, there was a tumultuous meeting of the Parliamentary Group that lasted almost five hours. At this meeting there were deputies who called for greater outreach to the party’s traditional public. Furthermore, the deputies were in favor of choosing a center-right candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. On the part of the government, however, they do not want the relevant discussion to open at this juncture and are postponing the decision-making until later.
Finally, it is important to note that the blue radars do not escape the fact that parties that move to the right of New Democracy in opinion polls present percentages of 15% to 20%. Therefore, in the next period the objective is to mobilize deputies from the party in power to get closer to a traditional public that may have moved to the undecided group or to other parties.
