Are Todd and Julie Chrisley headed for divorce?
Even the strongest marriages can crumble under extraordinary pressures. And prison is certainly that.
The Chrisley divorce has been a topic of conversation for fans ever since the reality TV couple found themselves behind bars on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion.
Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie received a seven-year sentence.
However, Julie may be about to receive an even earlier release than her husband, which has left many worried that she may start divorce proceedings.
Would anyone be shocked? No – but what’s the truth behind the Chrisley divorce rumors? Are they really over?!
Chrisley Divorce Rumors: How They Started
It all started when the pair were sentenced to prison for their crimes.
Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley may have committed the same financial crimes but received separate sentences in different facilities.
Todd is currently expected to be released from prison in January 2033. And prison forecasts predict Julie will be free in October 2028.
The fact that Julie could be free before Todd has been a major point of contention for many who think the couple could be headed for a split. Would she remain devoted to him now that she has her freedom back? More importantly, should she?
When the rumors first surfaced, there was pressure from the duo’s legal team to shut down the noise.
Todd’s attorney, Jay Surgent, spoke to multiple media outlets about Thanksgiving 2023, including TMZ.
In those conversations, he insisted that divorce is the last thing on the Chrisley family’s minds.
According to Surgent, the Chrisleys felt “supported” by their “mutual belief in God.” Todd and Julie are devout Christians.
Furthermore, he says, they both have an abiding faith that the United States criminal justice system will eventually prevail and that the “right thing” will happen.
But that was then. What now?
Todd Chrisley ‘fears’ Julie will divorce him and find a new man after arrest
As we have previously reported, Todd believes God caused his imprisonment as part of a divine plan. Part of this seems to be prompting prison reform.
Last holiday season, the two had separate Thanksgivings in separate prisons, both without their children. It was a hollow echo of the actual holiday celebration.
Now, as time passes and the couple spends more time apart, fears arise that the marriage will not survive.
“While Todd is happy for Julie, he is at the end of his rope and has about eight years left,” a source told OK Magazine about your situation.
“More than anything, Todd fears that if Julie leaves, she will find someone else, fall in love and leave Todd… someone who hasn’t dragged her through everything and come back,” the source added.
It remains to be seen whether his fears are well-founded or not, but he may not have much longer to wait.
Julie Chrisley wins early release battle
In June 2024, the court heard Julie’s final appeal, which stated that there was no clear timeline for her involvement.
After some deliberation, the court agreed to appeal the sentence and reduce Julie’s stay behind bars.
This was a huge victory for Julie and when her lawyer spoke with Online Radarhe gave an idea of how soon Julie could taste freedom.
“It’s a big, big deal,” he said, going on to say how Julie could be released as early as “next spring or summer.”
Of course, that’s the best-case scenario; more realistically, her lawyer believes her sentence will be “significantly reduced by 1-2 years.” Then, from there, she’ll likely have to live in a halfway house for six months to a year.
And when she gets out from behind bars, there may actually be some validity to Todd’s fears.
Julie is ready to divorce Todd “without hope”
“Julie’s friends are certain she will end up divorcing Todd for convincing her to go along with his foolproof plan that landed them in jail,” a source said. Daily Mail.
Apparently, it is the feeling of those closest to her that Julie was as deceived as anyone else in this situation. Todd allegedly led her to believe that there would be no consequences for her actions.
A foolish idea for someone who commits a crime, but she followed through anyway. However, the consensus now is that she will run for the door to escape the man who got her into this mess—and the man he has become.
“He is hopeless and completely broken,” the source said of Todd. “He spends his days in isolation because many prisoners don’t like him due to the fact that he is blabbering about prison conditions.”
And there you have it. The truth is that Todd and Julie have not filed for divorce. However, there is still time for that and, at least on Julie’s part, encouragement to do so.
At this point, we can only wait and see how the chips fall regarding his early release. From there, we will have our answer.
