Carly GreggThe 15-year-old woman accused of murdering her mother is displaying some strange habits in court… having an obnoxious fit of laughter while sitting at the defense table.
Try it… the Mississippi teen was wearing a conservative navy blue ensemble as her trial began on Thursday. Her protective attorneys flanked her on either side, wearing critical expressions throughout the trial… though, Carly seemed to enjoy the proceedings, as she fought back a few laughs.
While it’s unclear what exactly prompted Carly’s laughter, the video shows her lawyer writing something down on a notepad… which appears to be what prompted the teen’s surprising response.
Gregg is currently on trial for alleged capturing your mother, Ashley Smylieagain in March… when she was just 14 years old.
She may also be accused of trying to kill her stepfather, Heathwho testified about the capture this week.
Prosecutors played footage they say reveals the harrowing incident in court Tuesday … and you’ll see Carly holding what appears to be a firearm behind her back before it exits the body — and gunshots are heard. Smylie was killed with a .357 Magnum.
Gregg’s legal team is seeking an insanity defense after previously rejecting a plea deal that would have likely sent the teen to prison for 40 years.
In addition to murder, Gregg was charged with attempted murder and tampering with evidence.
We’re sure there will be more to come… so stay tuned.
