Michael’s Bay is going to need some expensive repairs to his house… because police say someone crashed their car into his front gate and caused six figures worth of damage before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the LAPD responded to the famed director’s Los Angeles-area home Tuesday morning to report a hit-and-run involving his property.
Police were called after a Bay employee discovered a car had damaged the front gate, snapped a tree in half, knocked over a city sign and damaged the gate keypad.
Sounds like a pretty wild ride… and TMZ obtained photos of the incident, showing the trail of destruction on the edge of Michael’s property.
We’re told officers found car debris in the wreckage and filed a hit-and-run/vandalism report.
The initial cost of damage was estimated at $100,000.
It’s unclear when the car sped through Michael’s driveway, but police say the accident happened within the last 24 hours… though it doesn’t appear Michael was home at the time.
The LAPD says there have been no arrests so far, but they are investigating… and police believe this may have been the work of a drunk driver.
