With geopolitical criteria, but also with Ursula von der Leyen seeking on the one hand to maintain internal balances and on the other to send the message for a stronger representation of women in the executive arm of the Union, the 6 executive vice-presidents of the European Union were appointed.
The male/female ratio to the new Commission overall, it will be 60% to 40%, with Ms von der Leyen commenting, with evident disappointment on her face, that “we still have a long way to go”. In the vice-presidential positions, however, there will be 4 women and 2 men.
The Vice Presidents
The three largest economies of the South (France, Italy, Spain), two Baltic countries (Estonia, Finland) and one of the Balkans (Romania) are represented in the vice-presidents.
These are:

- Stephane Cezournet (France) – Prosperity and Industrial Strategy
- Kaya Kalas (Estonia) – High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
- Roxana Minzatou (Romania) – People, skills and preparation
- Rafael Fito (Italy) – Cohesion and Reforms
- Henna Virkunen (Finland), Technology, Security and Rule of Law
