Body camera footage of Ryan Wesley Routh of the arrest came after the suspect’s alleged attempt to Donald Trumpthe life of.
Watch the video… Martin County Sheriff’s deputies are seen shouting orders at the alleged shooter after he was pulled over on a Florida highway on Sunday.
When Routh enters the scene, he is seen walking backwards while holding his shirt high above his head… proving that he did not have any concealed weapons on his person afterwards. allegedly trying to murder the former president on a golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Surrounded by several officers holding rifles, Routh appears surprisingly calm… surrendering to officers on the scene, who handcuff him and take him into custody.
The footage confirms what the Martin County Sheriff William Snyder shared Monday morning on CNN … where he described Routh’s demeanor as “bewildered” during the stop.
The sheriff added… “His facial expression was so expressionless. His demeanor was relaxed. I honestly thought he looked like someone who had just left the church picnic and was heading home.”
Routh became the prime suspect on Sunday after the Secret Service spotted an AK-style rifle poking out of some bushes. 400 yards away where the former president was playing a game of golf.
An officer responded to the potential threat by firing shots in the area where the rifle was spotted… prompting the suspect to drop the weapon and flee in a nearby SUV. The suspect’s weapon reportedly did not fire.
Authorities later reported that Routh had left two backpacks, a spotting scope and a GoPro camera at the scene.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Department has put “all of its resources” into locating the suspect after receiving an alert from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department… Sheriff Synder confirmed Monday.
It’s a good thing they did, because they were able to arrest the suspect… who is now in custody — and will remain there until his arraignment on September 30.
Routh was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number… however, more charges are expected.
