Lucid is already thinking beyond Gravity.
On Tuesday, during the automaker’s Technology and Manufacturing Day, a teaser image of Lucid’s midsize crossover SUV was posted on Twitter (now called the X). Lucid said the midsize electric SUV will arrive in end of 2026 and cost less than $50,000.
The midsize EV will feature “cutting-edge technology and efficiency,” according to the company. Lucid said it will provide the same range as competitors with a smaller battery.
The teaser image reveals a crossover SUV that appears to be about the size of a Tesla Model Y. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said the company’s midsize vehicles will be like the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
The vehicle in the image appears to match the same vehicle covered in a sheet shown in January.
Lucid hasn’t released the name of its upcoming crossover SUV, but the company registered a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in January for the name Earth.
The midsize crossover SUV has a similar silhouette and roofline to the Gravity SUV. The front end features horizontal LED headlights and a full-width chrome trim piece with “LUCID” lettering. The fenders feature strong curves, and the mirrors are mounted on the fender. Unlike the Gravity SUV, the midsize crossover appears to have scallops on either side of the hood, similar to the Air sedan.
Rawlinson said the midsize vehicle will be the company’s “high-volume platform.” That likely means it will be less luxurious than the Gravity and Air sedan.
In August, Lucid got another $1.5 billion cash infusion from Saudi Arabia.
Pre-production units of the Gravity SUV are rolling off the assembly line with customer deliveries scheduled to begin later this year. Lucid has not announced when the midsize crossover will debut.
