Beyoncé not getting love from the Country Music Association isn’t a big shock to his dad Matthew Knowles …and he thinks race is a factor here.
Bey’s dad tells TMZ … he’s not surprised his daughter got zero CMA nominations for his country album “Cowboy Carter,” given his history with awards.
Mathew says Beyoncé didn’t have a good experience performing with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards — her inclusion wasn’t well-received — and he says the CMAs never apologized to Bey.
Beyoncé has one of the biggest country albums of the year, but Mathew says voters are “showing that it’s still all about black and white.”
Mathew sees it this way… “There are more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievement. Sometimes it’s still a black and white thing.”
Beyoncé’s father says he’s not calling CMA voters racist, but says her rejection “speaks for itself.”
It’s worth noting… Shaboozeywho appears on Beyoncé’s country album, was nominated for Best New Artist and Single of the Year for “A Bar Song”.
But when it comes to Beyoncé, Mathew says decision-makers at the CMAs are taking a negative stance… and that’s no surprise “in the current state of American culture.”
Mathew also says… “In America, there is no accountability for people who are not accepting of other cultures.”
The irony here for Mathew… he says that the banjo actually comes from Africa and therefore country music is derived from Africa.
