Paul Harrell took to his personal page to announce his death, apologizing to followers in a heartbreaking announcement that he said “makes me feel like I let everyone down.”
Paul Harrell is useless after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The popular YouTuber and gun rights activist shared the information in a posthumous video on his channel titled “I Am Useless.”
“If you guys are watching me, I’m useless,” the Oregon-based content creator advised his 1.14 million subscribers. The six-minute “pass the grave” clip was filmed in December 2023, with his family posting it after his death on Tuesday.
Harrell made the announcement while sitting on a log in a forest, the same spot where he first informed his subscribers about his stage 2 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
Initially, Harrell was optimistic, telling followers that his cancer had been “caught early” and that he would “be here for a while.” However, in his posthumous video, Harrell went on to detail how his health took a turn for the worse.
“We caught it early, but not as early as I thought,” Harrell advised followers. “It spread faster than I thought. My time is running out.”
Using crutches after fracturing his hip — an injury he revealed was triggered by cancer spreading to his bones and causing them to “fall apart” — the YouTuber offered his “honest apologies” to followers who may be shocked by his sudden death.

“I expected to continue in this format for the next 10 or even 15 years,” he said. “Even after we got recognized, I expected us to be here for at least another two or three years, and it ended up being just a few more months.”
“My apologies for that. It makes me feel like I let everybody down,” Harrell added.
The feedback portion of the video was met with nothing short of love for Harrell, with many praising the firearms professional for all he does for the community.
“Thank you Paul for everything!” one fan wrote, while another commented on Harrell’s “dark” humor.

“Even from beyond the grave, the humor is dark but applicable,” the fan wrote. “We will miss you, Paul.”
“This is the worst notification I’ve ever received,” added another heartbroken supporter. “RIP Paul.”
The clip ended with a message from its editor and supervisor, Brad Nelson.
“I was privileged to have Paul in my life and have him as a friend,” Nelson told viewers. “He is a very generous and kind man and told the best campfire stories.”
In addition to advocating for gun owners’ rights, Harrel has used his channel to share information about gun safety and proper photography.
