The 10 Most Educated Cities in America
Forbes has ranked Atlanta as the most educated city in America. That’s right! — Georgia’s capital city has taken the top spot.
Atlanta News First Forbes reports that Atlanta is home to major colleges such as Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and Emory University. The city also boasts several HBCUs, including Morehouse, Spelman, and Clark Atlanta.
11Alive notes that Forbes highlights these cities as centers of innovation and tax collection, attracting companies looking for the best talent, which further increases the concentration of people with high levels of education.
Forbes clarified that “most educated” is not determined by a single metric. The rankings take into account factors such as high school dropout rates, graduate degree attainment, and gender and racial gaps in degree completion, as well as the concentration of college graduates.
The City of Atlanta’s official X account (formerly Twitter) thanked Forbes for naming the city the most educated city in the world. The statement noted that this recognition reflects the community’s strong commitment to education and learning.
Thanks @Forbes for naming Atlanta the most educated city in the U.S.! This recognition is a testament to our community’s hunger for education and commitment to learning. With nearly 60 percent of residents holding bachelor’s degrees and 26.68 percent holding advanced degrees, the city is one of the most educated cities in the U.S.
