Pop Smoke’s Mom Reacts to Killer’s Comments
Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, sat down with TT Torrez from HOT 97 for an emotional discussion leading up to what would have been the drill rapper’s 25th birthday.
During her conversation with Torrez, Audrey Jackson expressed her views on the release of the individual convicted of allegedly killing her son. According to TSR, a judge did not reveal the man’s name to the public due to his status as a minor at the time of the 2020 incident.
Now, the individual known as Blockstar has stepped forward and made his first public comments since his release from prison. New York Post reports that Blockstar, formerly known as King Vermont Raskel, appeared on the ‘No Jumper’ podcast to discuss his case and the incident that resulted in Pop Smoke’s tragic death. While speaking to Adam 22, Blockstar appeared to show no remorse for the tragedy.
“I don’t regret anything. This should have never happened, but I don’t regret anything. If I could go back, I would. But I don’t regret anything. Black people die every day. Pop Smoke was rapping about it. All kinds of shit. So I don’t regret anything. I send my condolences to the family. I wish it never happened. But I don’t regret anything,“ Blockstar said.
Audrey Jackson responded to questions about Blockstar’s release and her recent interview, stating that she does not follow updates on these matters.
“I’m not in tune with that. It’s not part of my world. I have people come up and say, ‘Did you hear that?’ They call me and say, ‘Mom, are you OK?’” Jackson stated.
Audrey Jackson further clarified that she chose not to delve into the disrespectful comments made by Blockstar.
“I felt a certain way when you said he was being disrespectful because I was told he was doing interviews and being disrespectful. I have to let that go because it’s going to eat away at me, I have to let it go. The bottom line is his life is over. His life is over. He’s living, but if that’s his approach to what he did, his life is over for him,” Jackson explained.

Here’s what Blockstar said about Pop Smoke’s murder
As The Shade Room previously reported, Pop Smoke tragically lost his life when four men broke into a Hollywood Hills, California home where the 20-year-old rapper was staying in February 2020.
According to the New York Post, Pop Smoke suffered three gunshot wounds to the back. He later succumbed to his injuries at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
Blockstar reportedly pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery in 2023, resulting in a four-year prison sentence. The New York Post further revealed that during his interview on the ‘No Jumper’ podcast, Blockstar clarified that Pop Smoke’s death was not pre-planned.
“It was a robbery. Nobody sent us. Nobody did anything like that. Nobody meant to get hurt. We were just kids being kids — being kids in the neighborhood. And there was a lot of movement. Everyone moving. A lot of sh** going on. Just a lot of sh** going on. It wasn’t intentional,” Blockstar explained.
Blockstar further explained that during his upbringing, he was taught to always take responsibility for his actions and stand by them.
“When I was a child, my people, my family told me: You don’t regret anything. Whatever you did, you did it for a reason and you stick to it.”
