A suspect has been identified following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a rally on Saturday (July 14).
O Associated press reports that a 20-year-old man was behind the shooting.

Donald Trump rally shooter identified
Thomas Matthew Crooks has been identified as the person responsible for targeting Donald Trump. He vivid in a suburb of Pittsburgh, not far from the campaign rally. NBC News reports that Crooks was apparently a registered Republican voter in Pennsylvania. However, it remains unclear how long he had been registered with the party.
Additionally, federal campaign finance reports reportedly show he donated $15 to a progressive political action committee on the day President Joe Biden was inaugurated.
Two law enforcement officials told the outlet they believe the gun was purchased by Crooks’ father at least six months ago, but federal agents are reportedly still working to understand when and how he obtained the weapon. They are also investigating to find a possible motive. The officials who spoke to the AP were not authorized to discuss the details of the investigation publicly. They did so after agreeing that their identities would be kept confidential.
The shooting at the Trump rally
Thugs allegedly tried to kill Donald at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. As he was speaking, shots were fired. The former president put his hand to his ear before ducking behind a podium. Secret Service officers could be heard telling Donald to “Get down!” Additionally, several men surrounded the likely Republican nominee, protecting him from potentially being hit by more bullets. Additionally, blood could be seen coming out of Trump’s ear. ABC17News later reported that the top of his right ear was pierced.
Although Trump was not seriously injured, one rally participant lost his life. Secret service stated that the suspected shooter, Thomas Crooks, was killed. It was reported that he fired from an elevated position outside the venue. Donald Trump’s campaign said he was doing “fine” after the shooting. In a memo obtained by PA-APHis top campaign aides thanked the Secret Service and first responders for their efforts.
Trump released a statement on social media, saying he had been shot.
