Some creep pretending to be an NBA prospect James McCain has been scamming fans out of their hard-earned money on Snapchat… and now, the REAL James McCain team is working to remove the account from the app.
TMZ Sports learned – someone completely unaffiliated with McCain, aged 20, has been contacting people on the platform recently… and after weeks of talking and building trust, the user will eventually offer gift items from SKIMS and other companies at one price with discount.
We’re told some users fell for it – after all, kim kardashianbrand recently partnership with the NCAA for March Madness… and McCain was there for the entire campaign.
SKIMS also has a relationship with the NBA… McCain’s next employer.

Once a deal is struck, hopeful buyers are instructed to forward money – sometimes hundreds of dollars – to a CashApp account that does not feature McCain’s image or name… which naturally raises concern, but the imposter assures that this is just to prevent women from sending you money to get your attention.
In other words… the person behind the fraud provides an explanation for any red flags that may arise during the transaction – and once they receive the money, they ghost or block the hopeful buyer and move on.
We’re told people in the former Duke star’s circle are aware of the account… and are in communication with Snap to have it deleted.
McCain — who once received money from NIL deals in college — is a future NBA star poised to make millions at the professional level… and has a huge fan base on social media.
So to the wise, if Jared McCain looks like he needs money…it’s not him.
