Jeremy Renner is back in business!
On Thursday, Paramount+ released the teaser trailer for Season 3 of Mayor of Kingstownwhich premieres on June 2nd. The sinister teaser trailer depicts an action-packed season in which Renner’s character, Mike McLusky, battles the forces of good and evil.
“Five percent of people are really good. Five percent are bad”, Renner’s voice can be heard in the teaser trailer that creates palpable suspense. “The rest of us struggle between the two – who we are, what we are, what we are willing to do.”
But perhaps most importantly, the teaser trailer marks a remarkable return for the 53-year-old Oscar nominee who on New Year’s Day 2023 was involved in a horrific situation and near-fatal snow removal accident near his home in the Mt. Rose Highway area of Reno, Nevada.
Renner’s return – which was nothing short of miraculous – is filled with a number of milestones, including the actor’s return to set to mark the one-year anniversary of the accident.
“First day on set…nervous today,” he wrote in the caption of a January 2024 Instagram post showing it in character. “I hope it works out, that I can REALLY do this for our production and, most importantly, for the fans.”
Renner also celebrated one year anniversary to return home for the first time since being released from the hospital.
Just last month, Renner I spoke to ET about his recovery and shared how close he is to being 100 percent.
“(I’m doing) probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to do… I think another six months will be needed (more)… I have to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever.” I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner said. “This recovery is a one-way street. The rest of my life is about health and well-being. Recovery will be a part of the rest of my life, so I’m looking forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, to be stronger, to be happier, to be healthier, and that’s what I hope for.”
Renner survived a horrific accident on January 1, 2023 while trying to save his nephew, which was stuck in the snow. According to a redacted incident report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, obtained by ET, the Marvel star recalled to investigators while hospitalized that he towed his nephew’s truck out of the garage and onto the street on New Year’s Day after it got stuck in the snow. The problem arose after the snowplow, a PistenBully snowplow, began “sliding to the side” and then “started rolling down the hill,” encouraging Renner to jump off the machine, he told authorities.
However, his nephew was in danger. Renner feared the snowplow would run over his nephew, “so he decided to try to stop or divert the PistenBully.” Renner attempted to climb onto the snow plow, but was “immediately pulled under the left-hand lane.”
The actor suffered a series of horrific injuries – eight broken ribs in 14 places, a broken right knee and ankle, a broken left leg, tibia and left ankle, as well as a broken right shoulder.
“I lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience,” said Renner in a exciting interview with Diane Sawyer of ABC News. “But I was refueled and refueled with love and titanium.”
Amid recovery, Renner spent last New Year’s Eve with his family and spoke about what lies ahead in a CNN New Year’s Eve live interview.
“We have a lot to celebrate this year and make amends again for what happened last year,” he said. “I really feel very blessed about it.”
