Sabrina Carpenter is opening up about how she approaches dating amid romance rumors with Barry Keoghan.
The 24-year-old singer appears in the new Cosmopolitan digital cover and talks about a series of topics, mainly dating and relationships.
“A lot of it, for me, was fate. I know this is very broad, but I don’t actively look for it,” she says. “The relationships I really want to put my energy into must be so interesting or invigorating because they take me away from the other things I love. where I’m really enjoying the newness of it all.”
Following Carpenter’s response, the article’s author noted at the end of the article: “Sabrina and I had breakfast on January 8th when rumors about her and Salt burn actor Barry Keoghan was confused at best. Now, based on an investigation of candid photos and comments on Instagram, their romance appears to have blossomed even further, but her team did not respond to a request for comment on the matter… so make of that what you will.”
And truth. Carpenter and the 31-year-old actor were seen earlier this month together at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills, California. Although the pair didn’t pose together on the red carpet, they did snap a photo with a cheeky pose while partying inside. Carpenter and Keoghan first sparked dating rumors late last year when they were spotted together in a parking lot. Since then, they have been spotted together at Los Angeles hot spots Nobu and Luna Luna. He also wore a “Sabrina” friendship bracelet at some Hollywood parties while Carpenter was busy serving as the opening act at Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour in Singapore.
In another part of the interview with CosmopolitanCarpenter says his views on relationships have evolved over time.
“My best friend just got married and she’s my age… It made me feel like I was so behind or something. And then I realized, no, no, no, she’s just ahead,” says Carpenter. “When I was younger, the one thing I always thought was: Why would I date this person if I couldn’t imagine marrying them? relationships that should be in her life, even if it’s just for a few weeks.”
Carpenter also gives her opinion when it comes to social media speculation about relationships.
“I wish more people knew that there are nuances, rather than taking everything on the internet as fact. They know in their own lives that they might be texting someone, but they’re not in a relationship,” she says. “But for some reason, it’s very black and white when it comes to the internet and the way people on the internet are portrayed. But I have to laugh about it, because sometimes I read some funny shit, but it almost feels like I’m reading about someone else.”
And by the way, Carpenter says he doesn’t have “one type.”
“Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t think there is one type. But the internet loves putting side-by-side photos of men who have the same hair color,” she reflects. “I’m super attracted to a lot of the things I look for in friends, because I want to be with someone who will be one of my best friends. So a lot of it is energy and humor and being genuine. I say I’ve always connected more with people who are really in touch with their emotions. I mean, none of these relationships have worked out so far. Sometimes I think I’d be better off with a mime.”
Carpenter also says she feels “genuinely lucky” to be performing on the Eras Tour for two reasons.
“I feel genuinely lucky on the Eras Tour because I get to perform a set that I feel super comfortable with and then I get to watch one of the biggest artists every night,” says Carpenter in reference to Midnight singer. “It almost feels like a Broadway show because everything is so synchronized, but at the same time it feels so current. This is an art. It’s very hard to teach. It’s very hard to learn. And I feel so lucky to be able to watch Taylor perform.” every time. It makes me want to tour the world again, which is a good feeling.”
