In a new interview with PeopleO Pitch perfect the star reveals that she lost her virginity at 35. Wilson plans to open up more about the subject in his upcoming memoir, Rebel Risebut shares that she hopes her story sends a “positive message” to others.
The 44-year-old actress says she wants others to know that you don’t have to lose your virginity as a teenager.
“People can wait until they’re ready or until they’re a little more mature,” she tells the outlet. “And I think that can be a positive message. Obviously, you don’t have to wait until you’re thirty, like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressure when you’re young.”
Wilson admits that as a teenager and young adult – who had not lost her virginity – she would leave the room when the topic came up or simply divert the conversation.
Today, Wilson – who is in a same-sex relationship with fiancee Ramona Agruma – says that “if I had been born 20 years later, I probably would have explored my sexuality more. and that was normal.”
“And then when I started opening up, probably more so after my father died and I realized, oh, even though I thought marriage was a terrible thing and a waste of time, I started opening up to it. meeting women and having feelings for a woman, and that, I just think is a sign of where society was at,” she adds.
Last year, Wilson announced that he would publish his first memoir. O Last year star took to her Instagram story to break down the emotions she experienced before telling her story to the world.
“Guys, I mean, I can’t wait for you to read this,” she said while signing copies of the book. “You’ll see a whole new side of me. Lots of funny and serious stuff… And I hope you love the book as much as I loved writing it – even though it (was) harrowing and emotional at times.”
In addition to the topic of sex, Wilson also uses his new book to call actor Sacha Baron Cohen, whom she dubbed “an idiot“on the set of the 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby, before the release of the memoir.
