When Beyoncé released new music during the 2024 Super Bowl, it was just the beginning of her country album era!
O Kansas City Chiefs back to defeat the San Francisco 49ers that night in a thrilling overtime contest that earned the team its third Vince Lombardi Trophy in five years.
Pretty impressive, we think – but the entire Super Bowl LVIII experience was dominated by music’s two biggest female solo artists. Sorry, Usher!
As expected, Taylor Swift was on hand to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce… drink beer…and help fulfill a conspiracy led by Joe Biden.
She hasn’t been in every entertainment-based headline, however. Not like the Grammys.
But Beyoncé! Oh, Beyoncé!
Beyoncé’s new song announcement at the Super Bowl
Beyoncé starred in a Verizon commercial during the game that challenged the singer to disrupt the company’s Internet connection by making one viral ad after another.
Most of them were silly and fictional, like Beyoncé launching into space, until the global sensation released some real news at the very end of the ad:
SHE IS RELEASED WITH NEW MUSIC!
As confirmed on Sunday night by Beyoncé’s website, the artist is releasing a new album. At the time, it was identified only as “Renascença: Act II”.
But not only that, she released two songs from the album on the same night that went viral: “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages”.
Immediately, fans noticed that there is a bit of country in these songs!
And so a new era of Beyoncé was born!
Beyoncé’s New Album Release Date and Sample Lyrics
Mark your calendars, because Act IIalso known as Cowboy Carter, as the album is titled, will be released on March 29, 2024.
A whole month before Taylor’s next album, Society of Tortured Poets, we might add. Happy planning, ladies!
As for the music, when you listen to these first two songs, you will see how much Beyoncé is in her countryThe.
“This ain’t Texas, this ain’t hold ’em,” Beyoncé sings as a fast-paced beat thumps in the background during the previous single cited above.
“So put your cards down, down, down, down / So park your Lexus and throw your keys up / Stay close, ’round, ’round, ’round, ’round,”
Good thing, right! But wait!
The second song, “16 Carriages,” has a more melodic ballad quality.
“Sixteen carriages driving away / As I watch them ride with my dreams / To the summer sunset on a holy night / On a long country road, all the tears I fight,” the singer sings.
Beyoncé Act 1
When Beyoncé released “Renaissance” in July 2022, she shared a statement on Instagram that explained that it was just the first part of a “three-act project” that she recorded during the COVID pandemic.
She referred to this album as “Act I” and described it as “a place to dream and find escape during a scary time for the world.”
That album, with a retro 1990s dance theme, reached No. 1 and was the centerpiece of her tour last year, which sold $580 million in tickets, according to trade publication Pollstar.
Cowboy Carter is now Act II, which begs the question, with two wildly different approaches, what could she be planning for Act 3?

Beyoncé collaborates with Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Post Malone on Cowboy Carter
Although Bey is known for sharing the spotlight with other artists, rumors swirling before the release of Cowboy Carter about who she would duet with were the bet.
Many thought Taylor you can lend your voice; others were sure that her husband Jay Z would join forces with her again.
But as you can see from the track list, Bey is releasing totally different names.
Includes collaborations with Miley Cyrus (“II Most Wanted”), Post Malone (“Levii’s Jeans”) and Shaboozey (“Spaghettii”).
As for country legends Dolly and Willie, the former revealed that Bey would cover her classic, Jolene, well before the album was released. Additionally, Cowboy Carter is presented in the style of a country radio show. Country music icons like Dolly, Willie and Linda Martell will take turns DJing select tracks.
