Dolph Lundgrenisn’t against recasting an iconic character – telling fans to give David CorenswetIt’s Superman’s chance… even if he’s not sure who he is.
We caught up with the action movie star in Los Angeles on Friday and asked him all about the end of the DC Universe – ‘memba, Dolph starred as King Nereus in the ‘Aquaman’ films – and he said he’s sad to see it go because of your great time working on the film.
DL quotes some of his co-stars from the film before moving on to the outrage surrounding Henry Cavill being dismissed as Superman by Corenswet.
Lundgren says he doesn’t know David — by name or reputation — but says fans are always up in arms when one of their favorite characters ends up being played by someone else… and they need to give the guy a chance. chance to flex your superhero muscles.
It seems like Dolph isn’t very familiar with Corenswet’s work – and yet he’s very positive here, saying he’s rooting for DC’s newest Man of Steel… which is awesome.
That said, Dolph is very clear that there is one character he doesn’t want to recast… Apollo Creed, played by the late great Carl Weathers.
Lundgren — who played Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV” and fought Creed in the film — says no one can replace Carl. In front of Superman, though… have it, he says.
