The first step in the road tax reform for 2025 has been taken. The Ministry of Economy and National Finance is moving forward in the creation of a Working Group which will commit to processing alternative costing scenarios and presenting proposals for changes that may be introduced transit fees.
Based on a relevant decision, the work of the Working Group is review and update of the structure vehicle traffic taxes, the formulation of opinions on regulatory and legislative provisions, the processing and study of new economic, social and environmental technological developments, as well as of the terms, conditions and criteria to define the cost of fees.
The criteria and the fine
The changes that are expected to be implemented in 2025, it seems from the above that they must be taken into account environmental criteria, such as emissions, but also technologically for example alternative fuel cars, purely electric, hybrids etc.
In the intentions of the Ministry of Economy and National Finance, in 2025 there will be changes to the process imposition of fines to those who do not pay road tax within the set deadline.
To this day, if someone does not pay traffic tax on time, they are obliged to pay double the amount determined according to the vehicle they own.
The scheme that appears to be considered is to establish them tiered additional charges depending on the delay in paying traffic fees.
Traffic rates per month
The AADE platform is expected to open in early April my car to put your vehicle back into circulation for those who put it in digital immobility.
It should be noted that owners have the possibility only once during the year to carry out the recovering your license plates digitallypaying an amount proportional to the months they want to get it back on the road.
Special attention should be paid to those e.g. recover your vehicle’s registration for 2 months, as, based on the provisions in force, if one day passes more than the declared period, without going digital again, then they will be asked to pay traffic rates for the entire year.
After the period of circulation for which proportional traffic taxes were paid has expired, the vehicle must be immediately stopped digitally, namely on the last business day of the month or the first business day of the following month, since the last day is a holiday.
