What police say happened between an Atlanta man and a friend who owed him $35
In 2022, DeKalb County officials discovered Quinlan deceased from a single gunshot wound to the chest, by 11Alive. They were called to the scene, which was an apartment on Maypop Lane in Decatur.
Parker’s wife reportedly witnessed Rickey Carter and Quinlan arguing shortly after Carter arrived at their home. Apparently, Rickey had loaned Quinlan the money a few weeks earlier and was trying to collect his coins.
Eventually, when the argument turned into a shouting match, Parker’s stepdaughter entered the room and began filming them on her cell phone. At some point after that, Rickey Carter pulled out a “little black gun,” per 11 Alive. Then came the single shot and Rickey left the scene.
Quinlan Parker’s wife sprang into action and attempted to give her husband CPR, but he died at the scene.
Although Rickey later tried to claim self-defense, according to the prosecution, the stepdaughter’s video told a different story. Quinland apparently was moving away from Rickey before the gun went off.
It’s unclear whether this was the first time the former friends had a fight over money.
