Kate Middleton wasn’t able to raise a pint of Guinness on St Patrick’s Day, but she made sure the Irish soldiers were well sorted in her absence.
The Princess of Wales, 42, who is currently recovering from a mysterious abdominal surgery, paid a $2,500 tab at the regimental bar in the U.K. town of Aldershot, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
Due to the costs incurred at the military base, the thirsty Irish Guards received around 700 pints of Guinness after participating in the annual parade.
Middleton and her husband, Prince William, also marked the event by sharing a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram on Sunday.
“Completely satisfied St. Patrick’s Day! Here’s a sneak peek of @irishguards rehearsing for their annual parade. Hello to all those who celebrate these days! ,” the couple captioned the post.
The mother of three was appointed honorary colonel of the Irish Guards in December 2022 and attended the celebration last year with her husband, 41, who held the title before her.
Middleton used to hand out sprigs of shamrock to the guards to pin to their uniforms, but Ghika Woman, wife of the Lieutenant Colonel of the Regiment, Major Normal Sir Christopher Ghika, did so in his place at the weekend.
Kensington Palace has been busy preparing for the princess’ return to public life, which is expected to take place after Easter.
A top-secret plan is underway to ensure the process goes smoothly after months of worldwide fury over Middleton’s disappearance from the spotlight.
“Teams are working around the clock to plan the Princess of Wales’ return to work plan after weeks of immense stress,” a source told the Mirror earlier this week.
“They all know the world will be watching after weeks of heightened speculation and unusually bizarre comments on social media.”

This comes a few weeks after Middleton shared an “altered” photo of herself along with her three children in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK.
Several film companies, including Getty Pictures and the Associated Press, quickly issued a “deadly finding” about the doctored image, prompting Middleton to apologize for any “confusion” it induced.
The Photoshop glitch also led to wild conspiracy theories about the princess’s whereabouts and her plight after going under the knife for a “deliberate” surgical procedure.
She made her last official appearance on Christmas Day with her family.
She has since been seen visiting a farm shop with William, but some skeptics still didn’t know if it was really her.
