John Legend says the bird he and his family are caring for will likely become a permanent member of the family… but it’s under sad circumstances.
We took the singer to Los Angeles on Thursday – where we chatted about this new macaw he and his wife Chrissy Teigen recently welcomed them under their roof… something they documented on social media, introducing their feathered friend to everyone as Audrey.
The kids seem to love it, but there’s a touching story about how Audrey got into their hands… and it involves John’s father-in-law, Ron.
As JL explains to us here, the Legend family is just caring for pets at the moment, while Ron is battling some serious health issues – issues that John openly tells us will likely lead to his death in the not-too-distant future. Because of this, the family is prepared to welcome Audrey.
As John says… Audrey will probably live longer than Ron overall, so they’re getting used to having her in their company – just the latest pet they’ve brought into the fold.

Speaking of animal companions… John talked about dog walking and dog pooping – something he says he has no problem learning, as he says he’s been doing it for years after living in New York. As he owns several dogs himself… he says he is now a veterinarian at this.
John also tells us that if you can keep a pet, you can probably do anything.
