We could finally see a sequel to School of Rock after 20 years? Black Jack says he is “ready” for that to happen.
(Also: Has it been 20 years since School of Rock?!? Nooooo…. (turns to dust like the guy in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade who drinks from the Holy Grail wrong))
In a recent interview, Black indicated that he is intrigued by the idea of revisiting his 2000s hit about a struggling rocker who finds his calling as a music teacher to elementary school children. Black said JOE “I wish there was a School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo … I’m ready.”
The film was certainly successful enough to merit a sequel. A critical and commercial success in 2003 – it grossed more than $130 million worldwide – the film eventually spawned a successful Broadway musical adaptation. It also became a Nickelodeon sitcom that ran for three seasons. But Black himself was not involved in any of these projects. (Nor was School of Rock director Richard Linklaterthat he proved with his In addition Trilogy that he knows how to make a sequel as good or better than a great first film.)

Black said if anyone made another School of Rockthe original writer of the film, Mike Whitewould need to be involved.
“Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius,” Black explained. “And we would have to have Mike White back in the saddle, but he is very busy right now with White Lotusthe best program on TV.
Currently, Black can be heard voicing the title character in Panda Kung Fu 4which is in theaters now.
Forgotten film sequels
