Derek Houghthe wife, Hayley Erbertappears to be feeling much better after her terrifying health scare… because she’s back on the dance floor!
Each couple posted a sweet photo to their Instagram accounts on Wednesday, showing Derek standing next to Hayley in a dance studio with his arm around her. Hayley’s head is resting on the popular “Dancing With The Stars” judge’s shoulder.
Their captions read: “Stepping onto this blank canvas together. Starting to paint again.”
The sweet image marked three months since Derek publicly announced that Hayley was recovering from brain surgery after she became disoriented following a dance performance and was rushed to a hospital in Washington DC.
In his statement to the IG at that time… Derek said Hayley had a “long road to recovery” after suffering a head hematoma, necessitating an emergency craniectomy.

What this means is that blood forms within the brain tissue or below the skull, putting pressure on the skull. This is usually caused by a blood vessel bursting in the brain due to head trauma, possibly leading to death.
This all sounds pretty bad… but it looks like Hayley – a professional dancer – has recovered and may be ready to dance again.

Earlier this month, Derek even hinted at it during an E! News interview, saying there is a “strong possibility” she will join him on an upcoming dance tour. Hayley also updated her condition, saying she has good days and bad days.
