The hospital where Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery in January reportedly experienced a security breach involving the Princess of Wales’ medical data.
An investigation is underway at the London Clinic into allegations that at least one employee tried to access Middleton’s data, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
“It is a major security breach and extremely damaging to the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the royal family,” a source at the private healthcare group told the British newspaper.
The source shared that the hospital was enlightened and immediately alerted the royal family about the safety concerns.
“Senior hospital executives contacted Kensington Palace immediately after the incident was brought to their attention and assured the palace that there would be a full investigation,” the source said.
Medical officials at the facility were “utterly shocked and disturbed” by the allegations, according to the report.
Employees were “greatly hurt by the fact that a trusted colleague could have been allegedly responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics,” the source noted.
Middleton, 42, is accused of being on the lookout for possible rape, although a Kensington Palace spokesperson told The Post: “It is a matter for the London Clinic.”
Meanwhile, a representative from the Information Commissioner’s Office confirmed that it has “received a breach report and (is) evaluating the information provided”.
A spokesperson for the London Clinic assured the Mirror that it firmly believes that “all of our patients, regardless of their situation, deserve complete privacy and confidentiality in relation to their medical information”.
Middleton underwent what Kensington Palace called a “deliberate” process in January, although no further details were identified.
Conspiracy theories about the princess’s health and whereabouts have been spreading online during her recovery, as she continues to stay out of the spotlight.
Middleton has not attended an official royal event since December 2023, when she attended a church service on Christmas Day with Prince William and their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
While her rep told Page Six that Middleton was “doing well” and hoped to return to personal duties after Easter, her continued absence has raised questions and concerns.
Concerns grew earlier this month when her husband was bailed at the last minute in a royal occasion resulting from undisclosed “private causes”.
The web was then set ablaze with theories about Middleton’s situation when she was caught posting a doctored family photograph on Mother’s Day in the UK last weekend.

Following the Photoshop fail – which forced Middleton to contest an official apology after photography companies placed a “deadly advert” on the photo – she appeared in some grainy paparazzi images while driving a car near Windsor Fort.
Middleton was finally noticed in public when she and the Prince of Wales stopped by the Windsor Farm Stand on Saturday.
“After all the rumors that spread, I was surprised to see them there,” an eyewitness told Solar. “Kate was shopping with William and he seemed happy and well.”
A video later emerged of the couple’s shopping tour, in which Middleton was seen walking alongside William looking completely content and energetic.
Although some have claimed that Middleton was not actually in the video and was actually a body double, her professional lookalike, Heidi Agan, denied that she was imitating the princess.
Royal sources are hopeful the latest sighting of a farm in Middleton will put conspiracy theories to bed.
Page Six reported in full on Tuesday that William’s estranged brother, Prince Harry, is concerned about the drama, but that “any trace of scandal is unfaithful.”
