Rising British talents CJ Beckford (“Riches,” Steve McQueen’s upcoming “Blitz”) and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (“The Originals,” “DC’s Legend of Tomorrow”) are set to appear in the feature film “Run.”
The film, from director Bernard Kurdieh and Rashomon Movies, was shot in 2022 under COVID-19 restrictions and is, according to the description, a “social impact film designed to start a conversation about mental health and eliminate the stigma that surrounds the problem.”
“As filmmakers, finding one’s creative voice is a difficult and often isolating process, and the dynamics of private relationships can make or break that journey,” Kurdieh said in a statement. “’Run’ explores the complicated relationship between psychological well-being and creativity, as our protagonist struggles with the stress of delivering good work and the emotional toll it takes on him. It also explores the complexities of relationships without true ‘villains’ in a breakup that seeks to create a narrative that balances raw authenticity with magical realism on a deep, emotional level.”
Added “Run” producer Amir Rashidian: “The topic hit home not only for Bernard and I, but for the cast and crew who had family members or suffered from mental health issues. This connection, despite financial and time constraints, led us to create the most moving film possible.”
Kordieh is currently developing a series of projects with Rashomon Movies, all aiming to explore the human plight.
“Run” is set to debut in construction at UK Psychological Health Awareness Week in May, with an online launch to follow soon after.
