Michael Jacksonhis biopic is already causing controversy… with the film’s creators promising it will be uncensored and the director of “Leaving Neverland” calling BS.
Here’s the deal… MJ’s new film has reportedly been presented in several press releases as a candid portrait of Michael Jackson’s life, focusing on his experience and human struggles.
Selection I checked with the producer Graham King and screenwriter John Loganwhich put the abuse allegations into the film – after all, Michael went through a very public criminal trial because of them, so it would be hard not to – but eventually paint him through the lens of innocence, as he wasn’t convicted again then.
In a separate statement, Graham King said he didn’t sanitize Michael’s life one bit…instead, he worked hard to present an independent image of the King of Pop.
Well done, director of “Leaving Neverland” Dan ReedHe’s not buying it… telling the outlet he’s reading a replica of the “Michael” script – and it’s basically an ode to MJ.
Remember… “Leaving Neverland” featured allegations of child sexual abuse against Jackson by Wade Robson and James Safechuck – their lawsuit against the Jackson estate is still awaiting trial.
Reed says the film goes out of its way to present Michael interacting with children in a constructive way… and he goes so far as to say it looks like Michael’s former lawyer. João Branca – an executive producer on the film – sat down with the artistic team and told them directly what to write.
We have proven to you enough Behind the scenes it seems like about the film being reworked over the months – picking up Jaafar Jackson, Colman Domingo, Nia Longa and more stars, all dressed up and ready for the camera to roll.
In short… this biopic is already stirring the pot – and it will only get better when it hits theaters next year.
