The long-term meetings of EDEKAP, the competent Committee on PASOK-Movement for Change for the election of a new leadership, since a common agreement has not yet been reached on how many polling stations will operate and where,
According to reliable information, Anna Diamantopoulou’s representative in EDEKAP sent a letter in which he notes that obstruction and endless discussions on individual proposals of district committees must stop, “while deadlines are getting closer and the need for a smooth conduct of the electoral process in view of the unhindered and cumulative participation of our fellow citizens at the polls, which is expected to be increased, is imperative”, as is usually reported.
“All the proposals of the municipal committees do not propose and do not favor the increase of electoral divisions, in order to facilitate the turnout of citizens and the expansion of the electoral base and the influence of our movement, as is proclaimed by all the candidates, are our objective, and not, on the contrary, ademonstrably aims to hinder and prevent the cumulative participation of our interested fellow citizens, especially in areas where, according to their judgment, the candidate of their choice does not appear to be particularly strong, so that the movement continues to be a closed and easily controlled party”, it is observed
This refers to “in the Northern Sector of Athens, where in a total of 14 municipalities it was proposed to reduce the number of polling stations in 8 of them and maintain the same number in the rest with the exception of one!!!”.
“Processes that unite and do not divide”
To resolve the issue on her side Annas Diamantopoulou presents specific proposals to facilitate voting on election day.
“Because we believe that the election of a new president in PASOK is a profound political process, which should in no way be stigmatized by sterile confrontations and “in the process”, we call on everyone to preserve what we have achieved so far, choosing processes that unite and do not divide”, the letter concludes.
