Donald Trump The spread of an absurd conspiracy theory about Haitian immigrants eating American cats and dogs in an Ohio town has prompted people to flood local police with inquiries… to the point where officers are having trouble investigating actual crimes.
Springfield, Ohio police tell TMZ… the department is getting twice as many calls a day — up from hundreds! — from concerned citizens across the country all asking the same thing… are immigrants really eating people’s pets?!?
ABC
Police say the spike in call volume began after Trump touted the debunked conspiracy about Haitians at Tuesday night’s debate against Kamala Harris …when he said that immigrants were eating cats and dogs in the city, which he specifically mentioned.
Springfield police say there have been NO reports of murders or animal consumption… but that’s not stopping people from flooding the police department with calls seeking information about the Trump conspiracy theory.
We’re told the non-stop barrage of calls is taking away officers’ time that they could be devoting to real police work on other cases… and it’s safe to say they’re over this nonsense!
As we reported… there was an instance in Ohio, of a woman who allegedly killed and ate a cat… but the woman arrested in the case is a native American — born and raised in Ohio — and the alleged incident happened in Canton, not Springfield.
Trump was verified by moderator David Muir during the ABC debate, with Muir quoting a Springfield city manager who said no pets had been harmed in the city.
Donald Trump Jr. later shared a 911 audio recording of a caller in Ohio claiming to have seen four Haitian migrants carrying dead geese, presenting the call as supposed evidence of his father’s claims… and he later also published the police report of the apparent incident.

@DonaldJTrumpJr
Trump I didn’t say geese but he said “They’re eating the dogs… they’re eating the cats… they’re eating the pets”… and that’s what got people so angry… to the point, apparently, that they were interfering with legitimate police work.
