The widow of Johnny Gaudreau has shared his first messages since he was tragically killed by a suspected drink-driving driver on Thursday… and it’s heartbreaking.
As TMZ previously reported…the NHL star and his younger brother, Matthewthey were run over and killed while riding their bicycles. The suspect in the case has been charged with their deaths.
Meredith Gaudreau on Saturday shared two devastating posts on social media about her husband’s death… and explained what an incredible husband and father he was.
“Thank you for the best years of my life. Even though I lost you, I’m still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you both so, so much,” she wrote alongside several photos of the happy couple.
“You were perfect. Some days it seemed too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are mine forever and I can’t wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever.”
In another post, Meredith described Johnny as an amazing father and “best partner.”
The horrific story has several layers of tragedy – Matthew’s wife is apparently waiting to deliver the couple’s first baby in just a few months. And the brothers’ sister was due to get married on Friday. That has since been postponed.
Authorities say a drunk driver struck them from behind around 8:20 p.m. Thursday. The suspect, 43, Sean Higgins, was arrested for his role in the accident and faces two counts of death by car accident.
Johnny was 31. Matthew was 29.
