In Ukraine the first fighters arrived F-16 which Kiev insisted on, according to a US official and the Lithuanian foreign minister.
“F-16s in Ukraine. Another impossible thing that turned out to be completely possible,” Lithuanian Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said.
A US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed according to the Reuters that the delivery of the first batch of fighters has been completed.
No comments from Kiev
There is currently no comment from the Ukrainian Air Force.
Denmark has pledged to supply Ukraine with 19 fighter jets, while the Netherlands has pledged another 24. Norway plans to supply six more.
Three weeks ago, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the transfer of F-16 aircraft from Denmark and the Netherlands to Ukraine was underway.
Analysts and authorities, however, point out according to the Reuters that the F-16s alone will not change the course of the war in Ukraine.
