The two people who say they suffered serious injuries in the Rashee Rice car accident earlier this year are actually hoping that the Chiefs star’s recent personal injury will hasten an amicable ruling on his impending lawsuit.
Edvard Petrovsky and Irina Gromova stated in court documents filed in April that they suffered brain trauma, lacerations to their faces, bruises to their bodies, as well as internal bleeding after Rice and his friend lost control of their sports cars on March 30 and crashed into their passenger while racing through a Texas highway.

Petrovsky and Gromova requested at least US$10 million in punitive damages – but there appears to be no disposition for the lawsuit in sight… as court records show the trial in the case is not expected to begin before June 2025.
However, Sanjay S. Mathurstated the lawyer representing the plaintiffs, in a statement to TMZ Sports Activities this week after the wide receiver’s knee injury on Sunday… he’s hopeful things will change now.
“We were saddened to hear of Rashee Rice’s loss on the football field and hope for her speedy recovery,” Mathur said. “We recognize that accidents can significantly affect a person’s life, causing physical pain and psychological suffering. They disrupt routines, hobbies, daily tasks and activities. Accidents often result in medical procedures and payments and therefore can harm one’s means of earning a living.”
“We were struck by the fact that Rice was injured at a time when the plaintiffs in our case against him are seeking justice for their own accidents,” continued Mathur. “We hope these current developments promote empathy, determination to make decisions and, most significantly, an acceptance of duty to the injured parties in our case.”
Patrick Mahomes simply made a decision and then broke Rashee Rice’s knee in a fight.

Rice, who had already expressed regret for the its function within the wreckagewas harmful when trying to solve a problem after a Patrick Mahomes interception against the Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The extent of his injury has not yet been revealed — although the Chiefs have placed him on injured reserve… meaning he will miss at least Kansas City’s next four games.
Before his injury, the 24-year-old — who is also dealing with criminal charges and a possible suspension from the NFL for his role in the spring car crash — was the league’s best player… totaling 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns .
