“No one ever wanted him uselessly,” said Bethel, who, along with his friend Farron Newbold, was also arrested at the time as alleged accomplices in the alleged murder plot.
“I am certainly not responsible for conspiracy to commit murder, and Faylo is also not responsible for being a hired killer,” he added, referring to Newbold. “It’s time to let the world know we are harmless.”
ABC News cited court documents that allegedly include WhatsApp messages between Shiver, Bethel and Newbold, in which Shiver “admitted to investigators to sending annoying texts after fighting with her husband.”
According to the outlet, in one of the messages allegedly referenced in the documents, Shiver sent a photograph of Robert “with another girl” and wrote “kill him.”
Bethel told ABC News that Shiver sent the text message to find out if Robert had “left his children unsupervised” at their home in the Bahamas.

“She sends the picture that was just sent to her, when she found out he was there and the kids were living there, that’s when she said, ‘kill him,’” Bethel said.
“Every time she argues with him and he tells me this, of course I get furious about it. But planning to kill him…” he added, amused. “No.”
Bethel claimed that his and Shiver’s texts were simply them “venting to each other.”
“The fact that we loved each other was no secret,” he told ABC News. “She’s my best friend, though. We continue to worry about each other no matter what, which also makes this case more difficult to deal with.
According to ABC News, Shiver was allowed to leave the Bahamas by a judge pending his trial in March, and is living with his parents in Alabama.

In July 2023, Shiver was arrested and charged in the Bahamas after allegedly conspiring to kill Robert a few months after the two filed for divorce in the US. The Georgia mother was released on $100,000 bail.
Bethel and Newbold were also charged and released on bail, but were required to wear ankle monitors.
Local police believe the murder plan was hatched on July 16. However, law enforcement only found the supposed plot while looking through Bethel’s phone during an unrelated investigation into a bar break-in case in the Bahamas.
Shiver and Robert are in the middle of a contentious divorce and are seeking custody of their three children. Additionally, they each seek full use of their $2.5 million Georgia mansion.
In the divorce petition, Robert accused his wife of adultery, something she denied. For their part, their lawyers said, “Currently, (your) husband is not allowing (his) spouse to use the jet or have access to payments.”

In August, physical camera images was released that confirmed law enforcement responding to a confrontation at Shiver and Robert’s home in Thomasville, Georgia. The argument caught on camera came just days before Shiver was arrested for Robert’s alleged murder-for-hire plot.
“We have already filed for divorce, but we live in the same house. It’s hell on earth, as you can imagine. I just got super aggressive and that’s why I called right away because he’s been physical before and I’m just not doing that,” Shiver told responding officers in the video.
“Agreed this morning, we have plans to travel and he is insisting that I not go,” Shiver continued.
Despite the officer’s advice that Shiver and Robert not travel together, they still traveled and vacationed independently, according to Daily mail.

In the Bahamas, police reportedly contacted Robert to inform him about the alleged conspiracy, according to the outlet. Robert allegedly described his wife as “manipulative” and theorized the reason behind Shiver’s alleged threat.
“She had an affair with an 18-year-old about 12 months ago and came to Abaco and took him to my house in Abaco,” he claimed, according to the Daily Mail. “I found out about it through her Apple Watch and she convinced me she wants to be a family, so we tried to make it work.”
According to Robert, their marriage fell apart after he discovered his wife’s relationship with Bethel.
After Shiver’s alleged plot to kill him, Robert said he became “worried about his life,” before returning to the United States with his and Shiver’s children, according to the Daily Mail.
Amid the ongoing affair against his ex-wife, Robert, a former Auburn College football player, began a relationship with Savannah Chrisley, who first revealed their romance in September 2023.
