Bank Of America confirms account failure
USA Today indicates that around 1pm ET on October 2nd, reports of problems began coming in, with approximately 20,266 outages recorded, according to the Downdetector website.
The agency noted that many Bank Of America customers reported missing account balances on the app, while others saw zero balances despite being able to access their accounts. Bank Of America did not specify the cause of the problem, but told multiple media outlets that it was addressing the outage.
In a statement to CNNthe bank recognized the issues customers face with their accounts and balance information. “These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience,” Bank of America said.
Additionally, BOA media relations executive Matt Card assured The Verge that the glitch has been fully resolved.
“Some mobile and online banking customers had issues accessing their accounts and balance information earlier today,” Card wrote in an email to the outlet. “These technology issues have been fully resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
