Before the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Gaza, its foreign minister from Jordanstated that someone must stop the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu because it is leading the Middle East region towards total war.
“It is time to face the truth and the truth is that unless someone stops Netanyahu, stops this government, the war will include all of us,” said Ayman Safadi.
Saudi Foreign Ministry: Truce is necessary
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud said that the Israeli attacks on Beirut increase the risk of the situation spiraling out of control. “We believe very, very, very strongly that a truce is necessary, that weapons will not solve anything, that we must move forward with the objective of peace in the region, and peace is deeply rooted in resolving the Palestinian issue,” he said. he emphasized.
In his speech today at the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu spoke at length about his desire to normalize Israel’s relations with Saudi Arabia and said his country is fighting on seven fronts. “It was interesting to see Prime Minister Netanyahu (…) not once mentioning Palestine, the Palestinians”, commented the Saudi minister. “That is exactly the problem. Without resolving the Palestinian issue, it will not be possible to achieve regional peace and stability,” he continued, reiterating that there will be no normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia if the Palestinian issue is not resolved.
The Jordanian minister agreed. “I can say with certainty that we are all willing, at this moment, to guarantee Israel’s security if Israel ends the occupation and allows the emergence of a Palestinian state, an independent state. But (Netanyahu) creates risks because he simply doesn’t want the two-state solution,” Safadi said.
