He welcomes the decision of the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadisto support pathologists as they are absent from the country’s health map, however, 40,000 euros is not an attractive measure, according to the Professional Union of Pathologists in Greece, which considers financial incentives to attract new pathologists insufficient in the healthcare system.
Specifically, pathologists explain that “The value of 40,000 euros for the five years of the specialty corresponds to a monthly allowance of 666 euros gross (350 euros net)” and do not consider that “it is a tempting measure to attract new doctors to the specialty without at the same time taking any initiative to deal with pathologist burnout due to the unfavorable working conditions that currently exist in the NHS”.
Opposite of imitation
Also expresses his opposition to the assimilation of qualified doctors with those trained in the specialty, but also with rural doctors who do not have a specialty. “This leads to a degradation of primary health care services”, he notes.
The Professional Association of Pathologists in Greece considers that where there are not enough pediatric GPs, the needs of the population must be met by GPs“who have received certified training to meet the needs of all members of a family, even children, and do not leave meeting needs to doctors without specialties, such as rural doctors, or those still in training in the specialty”.
Finally, it considers it opportune to create Model Health Centers of a university nature, as well as the creation of digital health services, with the support of the telemedicine network, as long as they will have doctors from all the necessary specialties.
