Julie ChrisleyHer lawyer is criticizing a federal judge’s decision to resentence her to seven years in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion … attributing it all to fame.
Jay SurgentOne of Julie’s defense attorneys told TMZ that he thinks the judge’s refusal to reduce her sentence is a result of bias against celebrities. Julie is well-known to millions of people, and he thinks the judge is making an example of her.
Surgent says Julie has been a model inmate and is not a threat to society in any way. Moving forward, we’re told, Julie’s legal team will definitely appeal the new sentence.
ICYMI… Julie appeared in court on Wednesday and was very emotional. She supposedly addressed the court in tears, apologizing for his actions. Julie’s children, Savannah and Pursuewere present at the hearing… and heard her mother apologize to the Chrisley family for what they’ve been through since she was locked up.
Julie was originally sentenced to 7 years in prison …but Julie’s lawyers had hoped to reduce the sentence to no more than 5 years. However, the judge found Julie’s current punishment appropriate.
