Quavo stole the flavor of his modest 2018 hit “Bubble Gum” from a Louisiana rapper who says he delivered the inspiration to Quay personally … at least according to a new lawsuit.
TMZ Hip Hop has obtained documents filed by a man named Lamount London – who goes by L. Monte — in which he claims to have opened for 2 Chains and Quavo’s Migos at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, LA on February 9, 2016.
After the show, L.Mont claims to have passed Quavo a CD containing his song, “Bubble Gum”… an upbeat, NOLA-style track he says he recorded in 2015, in hopes of working together in the future.
L.Mont says he’s never heard of Quavo, but claims he heard his own work when the Atlanta star dropped his debut album “Quavo Huncho” and promoted track #18 “Bubble Gum.”
Quavo’s music has racked up millions of streams over the years, and L.Mont claims the lyrics, the arrangement, the melody… everything except the candy wrapper, is a direct copy of his work, he says — and now he’s seeking damages for it.
We reached out to Quavo’s team but have yet to hear back.
