Conor McGregor appears to be running in the 2025 Irish presidential election… claiming he is the most qualified guy to represent the people of his home country.
Notorious released a lengthy statement about his political aspirations on Thursday… laying out exactly what he would do if elected.
“As president, I have the power to convene the Dáil (Éireann) and also dissolve it,” the UFC star said. “So, as I said before, I would have all the answers that the people of Ireland are seeking from these thieves of the working man, these disruptors of the family unit, these destroyers of small business, and so on!”
He continued… “These charlatans in their positions of power would be called to account to the people of Ireland and I would do so by the end of the day. Or I would have no choice but to dissolve the Dáil altogether.”
McGregor’s interest in politics isn’t all that surprising — he’s been outspoken on a number of issues in the past — but the timing may be questionable, given that he’s still expected to fight Michael Chandler sometime in the near future.

TMZ Sports in fact, I spoke to the former champ in 2018… and he seemed excited about the idea of running for office.
Days after that conversation… the Irish Prime Minister at the time, Leo Varadkar, did not rule out the idea of seeing McGregor in politics, saying: “Stranger things have happened”.

McGregor appears serious about getting on the ballot and taking over as current president Michael D. Higgins …ending his post with a firm statement.
“Ireland needs an active President employed entirely by the people of Ireland. That’s me. I’m the only logical choice. 2025 is coming…”
This could be bad news for Chandler — if McGregor is, in fact, shifting his stance to the government… who knows if this fight will ever happen.
