To this end, a meeting was held on Thursday in the presence of the minister Christos Stylianidisgathered to begin the pre-feasibility study of the PPP project “Pre-feasibility Study Consultant for PPP Green Ferries”.
The preliminary study has an execution horizon of eight months, with a budget of 280 thousand euros.
The aim of the project is to study the connections of coastal public services, with the development of a PPP model and the use of “green” networks. ships.
This study constitutes the first phase of the action foreseen in the Sectoral Programme/QREN “Transport 2021-2027”. The initial budget for the action is 80 million euros, which may increase up to 360 million euros.
Also in collaboration with the Unit Public Private Partnership (PPP) of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Navy and Insular Policy submitted a request to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the provision of technical assistance and expert consultancy services.
The Minister of the Navy and Island Policy, Christos Stylianidis, stated in this regard: “The development of an innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model that will renew our country’s ageing coastal shipping fleet, using “green” vessels in coastal maritime links, constitutes a decisive step towards sustainable development and strengthening the interconnectivity of our island regions.
Today a very important project begins for the Ministry of Navigation and Insular Policy, through which we will develop the appropriate financial framework to support Greek shipping in the renewal of the fleet for the sterile lines.
By promoting green technology and ensuring the connection of coastal shipping to drylands, we are demonstrating in practice our commitment to a future where Greek shipping will be pioneering and sustainable.”
The meeting was attended by the structure of the contracting company, officials from the PPP Unit of the Ministry of Finance, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry of the Navy and Insular Policy and the Staff Structure of NSPA-YNANP.
